John Aslanidis was born in Sydney in 1961. From 1987-1989, he attended the City Art Insitute where he achieved a Bachelor of Visual Arts. In 1990 he received a Graduate Diploma of Visual Arts from the College of Fine Arts, University of NSW.
Aslanidis has received a Skills and Arts Development Grant from the Australia Council for the Arts in 2016 and 2010, as well as their New Work Grant (in the category of Established Artists) in 2006. He has also been involved in both ACA’s ‘International Residency’ and ‘International Studio and Curatorial’ programs in 2011 and 2016. 1993, ’94 and ’97 saw Aslanidis receive the Pollock Krasner Art Foundation grant and in 1990 he was awarded the Mercedes Benz Youth Art Scholarship Prize RAS, Sydney.
Although Melbourne-based, Aslanidis is an internationally acclaimed artist, exhibited both in Australia and worldwide. Private and public collections of his work can also be found in Australia, Europe and the USA.
