Biography:

Denise Green has had more than 115 solo exhibitions in the USA, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Hungary, Denmark, Austria, India and Japan – an incredible accomplishment. Green studied at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1966-69 then went on to undertake studies at the University de Paris, La Sorbonne in 1969. She then moved to New York in 1969 and achieved an MFA at Hunter College, New York in 1976.

Her mentors range from the likes Rothko and Motherwell to post-structuralist philosophers such as Jacques Derrida and Roland Barthes. As well as being a published author, retrospectives of Denise Green’s work have been in major museums from MoMA PS1 (New York) to the Art Gallery of New South Wales (Sydney). Green has received numerous awards throughout her care, the culmination of which was the Order of Australia in 2007.
